Package design for the new Udon noodle product that made a japanese traditional knot by noodles.
For making the new brand, we focused on making the auspicious designwhich would be rememberedas a gift. Because these products are based on chewy noodles served at the foot of Mt.Fuji, with pray for safety of climbers. Also, there are local habits of eating udon noodles when they are congratulating.
So we made a design like a Japanese gift envelope that used for putting money inside and hand to someone at an occasion such as a celebration or gratuity, with a motif superimposed the shape of Mt.Fuji and the knot. In Japan, there is a culture that respectfully wraps gifts carefully, the line of red and gold expresses its overlap of papers and also gives a luxurious impression, while the outer box wraps it further by its unique way of folding. Using the band called MIZUHIKI in japanese makes it more excellent gift. In Japan, the tradition of MIZUHIKI is well known and remains much alive especially in wedding customs, gift-giving and wrappings, festive occasions,srine and temple ritual contexts.
In other words, we stimulated a new demand for using udon noodles as a gift by design, following local customs in the area at the foot of Mt.Fuji.
